Bolton boss Ian Evatt is still fighting for automatic promotion.

Bolton boss Ian Evatt will be getting updates from Derby County's game against Carlisle and is ready to go "gung-ho" at Peterborough United if given a sniff they can snatch automatic promotion.

Wanderers have it all to do to wrestle second away from Paul Warne's side who need just a point to seal their return to the Championship. Bolton's task has been made harder by the fact they travel to Peterborough who are fourth in the table and will want to finish their season with some momentum heading into the play-offs.

Wanderers need a four-goal swing in goal difference and for Derby to lose in order to seal runners-up spot and Evatt says he will be kept abreast of developments.

“Apart from Nathan (Baxter) going up front, we have learned our lesson from that,” he said, referring to a game against Carlisle earlier in the season. "Other than that, we will probably have to go for it a little more – but this is a team that creates a hatful of chances, so provided we can take them, we won’t have a problem on that front.

“Obviously we will get updates in the game and if we need to go a little more gung-ho because the goals need to come then that is something we can change in-game, but the approach is the same. We will play our way and try to win the game. If things don’t go our way then we continue with the momentum going into what’s to come.

“The most important thing is that we perform against one of our direct competitors. Peterborough have been very good this season, they have been right up there for the majority of it.”
