Former Everton CEO Keith Wyness believes £80million could be enough to snatch Alexander Isak this summer.

Newcastle United have a “not for sale” stance on the Swede, who has 23 goals across all competitions in 2023-24. Isak remains the club’s record signing following his £63million arrival from Real Sociedad less than two years ago.

The 24-year-old distanced himself from transfer rumours when grilled by reporters in March - insisting he is happy at St James’ Park. But that has done little to quash speculation linking him with a move to Arsenal.

The Gunners are chasing a striker to complete Mikel Arteta’s jigsaw and Isak has established himself as one of Europe’s best. Ex-Toffees chief Wyness has tipped the Newcastle ace to jin Arsenal for £80-100million - a price tag that will infuriate Toon chiefs.

“I’m a big admirer of Isak, he’s a high-quality finisher,” he told Football Insider. “I think you’d be looking at somewhere between £80-100million, and there will be interest in trying to take him away from Newcastle.

“He seems like he’d be the perfect player up front for Arsenal. There are a lot of issues with strikers at some of the top clubs.

“Isak has had some trouble with injury, but when he’s fit he has shown that he’s at that level. Strikers always come at a premium, so £80-100million will be the price tag.

“Especially for someone like Isak, who will go right to the very top. I’m sure Newcastle will do all they can to keep him but I think he could go further.”
