Liverpool winger Mohamed Salah was involved in an ugly touchline spat with manager Jurgen Klopp over the weekend during the Reds' 2-2 draw with West Ham United

Mohamed Salah’s verbal exchange with manager Jurgen Klopp, which led to their heated altercation over the weekend, has been revealed, according to a professional lip reader.

Salah, 31, made headlines when he was engrossed in a very public spat with Klopp on the touchline during the Reds’ 2-2 draw with West Ham United on Saturday.

Liverpool were leading away at the London Stadium when Salah was introduced as a substitute, alongside Darwin Nunez, when the Egyptian international could be seen growing visibly upset with his manager, seemingly over a disagreement about the way Salah shook Klopp’s hand before entering the pitch.

Nunez was forced to step in to simmer down the conflict between the pair before further escalation, though most of the damage had been done. And while Salah denied requests for comments after the patch, insisting that if he spoke “there would be fire”, lip reader John Cassidy has revealed to Sportbible what was said that led to the contretemps.

According to Cassidy, Salah said: “There's nothing I can do about that, nothing,” in response to the perceived impudent handshake. Cassidy also claims that, though Klopp's response was obscured, Salah was ostensibly not ready as swiftly as the soon-to-depart Liverpool boss wanted him to be.

Klopp then walked over and disquieted Salah with another round of comments, though the exact words were indeterminate. It's at this point the winger snapped and reportedly replied: “I will, I will get a red card, after seven years, after seven years' service, after seven years!”

Nunez was then forced to pull Salah away to quell the situation. After the match, Salah ignored Klopp as he walked onto the pitch at full-time. The remarkable episode immediately stirred doubts over the future of Salah at Liverpool with the impending announcement of new manager Arne Slot.

Salah is entering the final year of his lucrative contract, and the perceived slump in form from the three-time Golden Boot winner has proven a point of contention amongst fans and pundits.

Salah remains Liverpool's top scorer this season with 24 goals in 41 matches, including 17 in the Premier League. He helped Liverpool lift the Carabao Cup in Klopp's final season, though the Premier League, FA Cup and Europa League have been dashed in recent weeks.
