Former Arsenal and Tottenham defender William Gallas believes things are looking bright in north London ahead of the clash at Tottenham Hotspur stadium on Sunday.

Frenchman Gallas, a two-time Premier League champion with Chelsea, has plenty of experience at the top end of the Premier League table and knows what it takes to be successful at the highest level.

Today's showdown could shape the destiny of the Premier League trophy for the 2023-24 season and with just a handful of games left to play, Mikel Arteta's Gunners are right in the hunt to end their title drought after falling short last season.

Spurs aren't chasing Premier League glory this time round. But Gallas reckons - with some savvy transfer business - Tottenham can still become a major force under Ange Postecoglou.

"I think everything is possible at Tottenham next season," he said. "But if you want to have a team that is capable of fighting for the Premier League title, then you need to look at the depth of your squad.

"Tottenham will need to bring in more players if they want to challenge for the title. They will need reinforcements. If you look at the teams fighting for the title this season, their squads are stronger than Tottenham’s.

"I think the fans can dream under the management of Postecoglou." Arteta's Arsenal, of course, are in the title race and the Gunners boss needs to persevere with Jakub Kiwior, says Gallas.

The Poland international, a £20million buy from Serie A side Spezia in January 2023, has racked up 18 Premier League appearances this term. Kiwior has been successfully deployed at left-back this season, but he struggled against Wolves last weekend.

Arteta subsequently opted to bench the 24-year-old for the midweek showdown against Chelsea, which the Gunners won 5-0. But Gallas reckons Kiwior on the left and Ben White - who bagged a surprising second-half brace against the Blues - on the right is the best full-back combination.

"Oleksandr Zinchenko’s first thought is to go forward and get on the ball, which can leave Arsenal’s defence open," said Gallas. "Arsenal are a lot more solid with Kiwor at left-back. They have the players in front of the defence that can make the difference.

"White has been chipping in with assists, but he hasn’t been as marauding as he was last season – his first job is to protect his team-mates. That has also helped William Saliba concentrate on doing his job.

"It is a very strong defensive line. It isn’t a coincidence that Arsenal have been scoring so many goals with this back four protecting the team."
