Cristiano Ronaldo’s manager at Al-Nassr, Luis Castro, has been forced to take a break from coaching following a “minor medical procedure”.
WHAT HAPPENED?
Portuguese tactician Castro will not be in the dugout when Al-Nassr return to Saudi Pro League action on Friday at home to Al Feiha. The first-team reins will be handed to assistant coach Vitor Severino until further notice.
WHAT AL-NASSR SAID
A statement from Al-Nassr reads: “Coach of the first team Mr. Luis Castro was advised by the doctor to refrain from physical activity for a few days following a minor medical procedure. Mr. Vitor Severino, the first assistant coach, will be in charge of the team until Mr. Castro comes back. Get well soon Mister.”
THE BIGGER PICTURE
Castro has been in charge of Al-Nassr since July 2023, when he was offered the chance to work with iconic fellow countryman Ronaldo in the Middle East. He has taken in 48 games at the helm, picking up 36 wins and suffering just six defeats.
WHAT NEXT FOR AL-NASSR?
Al-Nassr are hoping to collect more major honours in 2024, despite enduring AFC Champions League and Saudi Super Cup heartache of late, with Ronaldo and Co set to be in King Cup of Champions semi-final action on May 1 when taking on Al-Khaleej.
