Arsenal have reportedly offered a new contract to a ‘world-class’ star, with the player in question expected to sign the new deal.
The Gunners have been exceptional in the last 18 months in signing key players to new long-term contracts, with Ben White and Takehiro Tomiyasu the two latest examples in the past few months at Arsenal.
With Bukayo Saka, Martin Odegaard and William Saliba also committing their long-term futures to Arsenal, Mikel Arteta is building a new culture at the club where his most trusted players are rewarded for their form on the pitch.
And another key player is now expected to sign a new deal with Arsenal.
According to the Athletic, Jorginho has been offered a new contract by Arsenal, with the 32-year-old midfielder expected to sign the new deal with the Gunners to commit his future to the club.
Rumours had emerged this week that Jorginho was open to a move to Serie A giants Juventus, though this update has seemingly put an end to such speculation with the Italian international set to remain in north London.
Recently lauded by Declan Rice as a ‘world-class’ player, Jorginho has been impressive this season for Arsenal with the former Chelsea man bringing leadership and experience to one of the youngest teams in the Premier League.
And key performances in big games has seen Jorginho’s reputation amongst Arsenal fans increase tenfold, with the Brazilian-born maestro now viewed as a big-game player for the Gunners.
Although there will be temptation from Arsenal to cash in on Jorginho at this stage in his career, the decision to retain the midfielder is wise from the north London side.
The Italian international has proven himself this season to be an incredible option in midfield outside of the likes of Odegaard and Rice, with Jorginho shining brightest in the biggest of games for Arsenal.
And with other midfielders linked with moves away, keeping Jorginho and allowing others to leave is a wise decision from Arsenal, who will get more from the Italian than the likes of Mohamed Elneny or Thomas Partey.
