So West Ham United seem all set to replace current manager David Moyes when the 2023/24 campaign ends.

David Moyes fielded all sorts of questions during his pre-game press conference yesterday, but the one answer we all wanted to hear was whether he’s accepted the fact that West Ham will replace him this summer.

Surprisingly, the 61-year-old Scot suggested that he still has the hunger needed to remain in charge of the Hammers.

That’s all well and good, but I firmly believe the decision will be taken out of his hands this summer. A recent report claimed the Julen Lopetegui will replace him in the West Ham hot-seat after all.

I don’t actually want the Spaniard to take over from Moyes. I’d much prefer someone like Ruben Amorim or Paulo Fonseca.

As things stand though, it hasn’t been definitively decided who will be handed the Hammers job. There is a claim doing the rounds about a contract the board are willing to hand one manager in particular…

West Ham will offer manager £4.3 per year to replace Moyes

Whoever is handed the reins at the London Stadium when this current campaign ends will have a big task on their hands.

A huge rebuild is needed at West Ham, and the new manager will be under real pressure to make big improvements on what Moyes has acheived.

The Hammers owners seem to be decided on the manager who they want to replace the Scot, and they’re apparently prepared to offer him an extremely lucrative salary…

According to Tuttomercatoweb, West Ham are ready to offer Lopetegui a €5 million (£4.3 million) per year salary.

That’s £300k a year more than what Moyes currently earns (Give Me Sport).

Listen, I really don’t think that Lopetegui is the man for the job. He’s a decent coach, but far from a needle mover so to speak.

If West Ham are to replace Moyes this summer, we should be looking for a dynamic, ambitious young coach with fresh ideas. And the 57-year-old Spaniard certainly doesn’t fit into that category.
