Wolves right-back Matt Doherty reveals the best player he ever played with was during his time at Tottenham Hotspur.

The Irishman left the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium permanently last January after Tottenham tore up his contract.

He joined Atletico Madrid but his time in Spain only lasted six months as he then made his return to Molineux last summer.

Gary O’Neil’s side completed the league double over Ange Postecoglou‘s side this season with Doherty in the squad.

The full-back has now been speaking about the best players he has ever played with during his time as a professional footballer.

And the 32-year-old has now said that the very best player he’s lined up alongside was during his time in north London.

Matt Doherty says Tottenham teammate was the absolute best he’s played with

Although Tottenham have now been able to get over the line when it comes to silverware, there still have been some sensational players play for the club.

Even now, Spurs have the likes of Heung-min Son playing at the club who is going to go down in Premier League history despite not lifting the title.

And Doherty did play with the South Korean during his time at Tottenham and will have behind him with a handful of appearances on the left.

Speaking on Wolves’ Tik Tok account, the Irishman admitted that it was, in fact, Harry Kane who was the ‘best player he had ever played with’.

“There’s only one really, isn’t there? Harry Kane,” the 32-year-old said.

The pair spent a number of years together in north London where Doherty was able to rack up 71 appearances.

In those games, the full-back did offer Spurs three goals and eight assists, three of those assists were. for the England captain.

Matt Doherty also hailed one other player who’s no longer at Tottenham

Kane was the obvious choice with the 30-year-old having since become Tottenham’s all-time record goalscorer.

However, there was another player who Doherty gave a special mention to as he listed a number of top players he’d worked alongside.

“Gareth Bale was top,” Doherty added having played alongside the Spurs legend during his loan return in 2020/21.

Bale was another player who Doherty formed a solid partnership with having handed the Welshman an assist in the Europa League against Wolfsberger.
