A deal for West Ham United to bring Ruben Amorim to the London Stadium this summer appears off.

The West Ham board seem to be intent on replacing David Moyes at the end of this season, after Sunday’s embarrassing 5-2 defeat to Crystal Palace.

Ruben Amorim is the latest big name to be linked with replacing the Scot.

The Hammers fans were incredibly excited yesterday afternoon, when news of our interest in appointing the Sporting CP coach broke.

However, that excitement has been short-lived, with the latest claims suggesting that the 39-year-old Portuguese tactician will not be taking over at the London Stadium (Fabrizio Romano).

So with the Amorim hopes apparently dead in the water, it’s back to square one as far as our search for a new manager goes.

There is one man who continually gets linked with the West Ham hot-seat, and it appears as though he’s on his way to London for talks with the Hammers owners…

Replacing Moyes with a top-class coach will be a necessity this summer, otherwise what’s the point in making a change in the first place?

Amorim would have been the perfect appointment as far as I’m concerned, so the fact that he apparently won’t be taking over now is a bitter pill to swallow.

One man who the West Ham board are chasing hardly inspires confidence, but it seems as though he could well be the man who replaces Moyes…

According to a report from Four Four Two, Spanish manager Julen Lopetegui has apparently been spotted boarding a plane to London Heathrow, ahead of proposed talks with the Hammers board.

I have to admit, I’m not overly enamoured by the thought of Lopetegui coming to the London Stadium and taking over from Moyes.

He’s a fairly dull, pragmatic coach, and I believe David Sullivan should be aiming a lot higher than the former Wolves boss.

With West Ham United’s proposed move for Amorim now off, I would much prefer to see us go for manager like Arne Slot or Paulo Fonseca.
