Dean Henderson has now shared what Oliver Glasner told him and his Crystal Palace teammates before they beat Liverpool.
For Oliver Glasner, he’ll view his side’s win over Liverpool this past weekend as the true beginning of his reign.
After a slow start to live at Selhurst Park, that’s all changed with the 1-0 win at Anfield.
Crystal Palace can now forget about relegation and look well-placed to end the season on a high despite prior concerns about both these things.
But while the win is impressive, Glasner’s mentality might’ve been equally impressive if not more impressive.
Here’s what happened…
After the 1-0 win over Liverpool this past weekend, morale is likely at an all-time high within the Crystal Palace dressing room – at least for this season.
Dean Henderson has shared exactly what Glasner told him and his teammates before the game, as quoted by Dom Smith with the Independent.
“The manager genuinely said to us, ‘We’re going to win today’, and that’s huge.
“We came here to win. We were written off by every single person and that’s the best feeling.
“Eleven men in front of 62,000 people. There was only one [fanbase] celebrating and that was the 3,000 Palace fans, so I’m delighted.”
Having this confidence from the manager is a massive boost for the players as it’ll rub off on them, something Glasner has brought since arriving in February.
When Glasner arrived, we all knew one thing would have to improve: the mentality around the club, with Glasner being a winner.
We saw this in front of our own eyes after the 4-2 defeat against Manchester City last weekend.
Glasner wasn’t happy despite a very strong performance from his side.
The weekend following saw Glasner’s team defeat Liverpool at Anfield as we all know.
This just shows first-hand that what Henderson said, is leading to the mentality at the club improving in leaps and bounds.
