Barcelona may finally be in for some good news on the transfer front, as it now appears that they can sign an excellent attacker this summer.

The Blaugrana are experiencing a difficult financial situation, and this has not been helped by an expensively disastrous move for Vitor Roque, who may now be loaned out.

Barcelona will be keen on adding firepower to their squad, with Xavi keen on both a defensive midfielder, with Guido Rodriguez set to arrive as one option, as well as a midfielder who can play closer to goal.

One option who could arrive is Dutch International Xavi Simons, who is currently on loan at RB Leipzig from Paris-Saint Germain.

PSG star Xavi Simons is keen on Barcelona return

Mundo Deportivo have now reported that Simons, who came through the La Masia academy before moving to PSG in 2019, is keen on returning to Barcelona next season.

Simons has a special clause in his contract which means he can decide where he spends next season on loan, and he is keen on moving to the Camp Nou.

However, a deal will still have to be reached between the two clubs, and it is unclear whether PSG will aim to keep the 21-year-old.

Simons has been outstanding this season scoring nine and assisting 15 goals in 42 appearances across all competitions for Leipzig.

The former PSV Eindhoven star has played on both wings, as well as behind the striker, and would provide more of a threat in the final third than some of Barcelona’s other midfielders, and this could facilitate an exit of one of Xavi’s less favoured attackers.

Simons has been described as “special” by Leipzig teammate and Spain International Dani Olmo, who praised his technical qualities.

“He has shown that so far in the time he has been here. We connect really well on the pitch but he can also do things on his own. He has an amazing dribbling technique, finishing as well,” he recently stated.

If Barcelona can somehow pull off a loan deal, then this would be a low-cost way to add serious quality to the squad.
