Chelsea have reportedly bid for Estevao Willian

Head coach Abel Ferreira has sent a transfer plea to Palmeiras president Leila Pereira after Chelsea's reported bid for wonderkid Estevao Willian.

The Blues are said to have submitted a £26million bid for the winger after tracking his progress for some time, according to reports in Brazil. The 17-year-old has been described as one of the most talented prospects in South America.

His performances have caught the eye of elite European clubs including Barcelona. Real Madrid, Manchester City, Arsenal and Bayern Munich are claimed to have made enquiries for Estevao, who has already been dubbed 'Messinho.'

If an agreement is reached with any club, the winger would only be allowed to leave the Brazilian team after turning 18 next year. Estevao broke into the first team in December 2023 after his stellar displays during the U17 World Cup and the latest edition of Copinha.

The U20 tournament in Brazil was a success for the teenager, who scored five goals and registered two assists in 12 appearances.

Most recently, he netted a late stoppage-time winner for Palmeiras in their 2-1 Copa do Brasil win over Botafogo SP. Speaking after the game, Ferreira heaped praise on the youngster and revealed he wants to keep hold of him for a few more years.

"Let him stay until 2027," he said. "The player is unlike anything I’ve seen. I’m not going to say what I think [about him] but I will ask Leila [Pereira] not to sell him. His dad, his representatives will be sad but let him stay until 2027.

"He’s unique from everything I’ve seen. He defends, attacks and his presence is felt in all aspects. Estevao is an example for all our players, he gives his all, makes mistakes but goes again and gets it right. He never shies away from a challenge."
