FA Cup first round draw: Wrexham handed return to old rivals as full draw revealed

The draw for the first round of the FA Cup has been completed and Wrexham have been given a clash with a former rival.

Two months after the start of the season the FA Cup is finally set to get underway at the start of next month, with teams across the country facing off for the chance to play at the historic Wembley Stadium.

Ahead of the matches on the first weekend of November, the draw for the first round took place tonight as 48 League One and League Two teams joined the 32 clubs who have fought through the qualifying rounds.

And after the first 40 fixtures of this year's competition have been named, Wrexham will travel to the home of an old rival in their first FA Cup match this season.

Last season The Red Dragons bowed out of the FA Cup in the fourth round, missing out on a mouth-watering tie against Newcastle United after losing 4-1 to Blackburn Rovers.

But this year they will get their campaign in the competition underway by travelling to The Exercise Stadium for a clash with former League Two rivals Harrogate Town.

Premier League sides like Liverpool and defending champions Manchester United will not join the competition until the third round which will take place during the weekend of January 11.

The final is set to take place on Saturday 17 May 2025 at Wembley, with Manchester City and Arsenal the favourites to compete for the trophy.
