Former Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Dele Alli believes the Chelsea players' chaotic argument before the second half showed the squad's immaturity.

The Blues found themselves 4-0 up at the break as Cole Palmer's stunning hat-trick and Nicolas Jackson's half-volley blew Everton out of the water. However, the scenes at Stamford Bridge descended into chaos on the hour-mark when a heated argument broke out over who would be taking a penalty to make it 5-0.

Noni Madueke and Jackson were pleading their case to take the spot-kick and it seemed that the former had won the debate before captain Conor Gallagher stepped in and handed the ball to Palmer. This led a furious Jackson to barge in and attempt to wrestle the ball back.

He was eventually pushed away by Palmer and Gallagher with the former converting from the spot. Jackson begrudgingly congratulated Palmer after he scored but it was not a good look on a day which was near perfect for the Blues.

Analysing the incident on Sky Sports' Monday Night Football, Alli was unimpressed by what he saw from the home players. "This is them showing their age," he said.

"I’m not there at the training ground every day so I don’t know who is their designated penalty taker, but as far as I’m aware, in that last big game when the pressure was on, I didn’t see them all fighting to take it then. It’s alright when it’s 4-0 and you want to get on the scoresheet, but if you want to get on the scoresheet as a striker, don’t try and do it when it is an unpressurised situation."
