Joao Palhinha has claimed that a certain player at Manchester City has been the standout performer in the Premier League this season.

It seems like even fellow professional players like the Fulham midfielder have held their hands up and admired a player who plays in the same division as them.

For instance, in February, Joao Palhinha admitted that Rodri is on a different level to every other holding midfielder in world football.

Despite being a top defensive midfielder himself, Palhinha was seemingly aware of the bar that City’s number 16 has set that even he has to reach.

Speaking of Rodri, he certainly has a claim of being the best player in the Premier League, if not the world based on the past two or three campaigns.

The Spaniard finished fifth in the Ballon d’Or rankings in 2023 but if he manages to win the European Championship with his nation, he could have an argument to win football’s biggest individual prize.

Palhinha says City star has been the best player in the Premier League

The 27-year-old is the embodiment of a true elite player.

The best of the best manage to find new ways to improve.

An argument can be made for Rodri to be in the form of his life.

But such a claim is not only reserved for the former Atletico Madrid midfielder.

Phil Foden is also playing the best football of his career as Joao Palhinha believes he has been the Player of the Season in the Premier League.

When quizzed about the Premier League Player of the Season, Palhinha told Fulham’s official Instagram handle: “Foden.”

Phil Foden looks set to win the PFA Players’ Player of the Year award

In the video, Joao Palhinha was not the only Fulham player to claim Phil Foden has been the best player in the league.

The likes of Bobby Decordova-Reid, Harrison Reed, Harry Wilson, Willian, Timothy Castagne, Sasa Lukic, Tosin Adarabioyo and Andres Pereira also named the £225,000-a-week man as their standout pick.

Tom Carney’s pick was either Cole Palmer or Martin Odegaard.

As a result, the video showed that Palmer had three and a half votes, Odegaard had half of one while a player each picked Ollie Watkins, Rodrigo Muniz and Eberechi Eze respectively.

Considering Foden got nine players to say his name, he might scoop up the PFA Players’ Player of the Year award at least, as the name suggests, it is voted for by players in the Premier League.

The Englishman seems like the popular choice so far.
