We simulated Bayern Munich vs Arsenal to predict the Gunners' Champions League fate

Arsenal and Bayern Munich go head to head in the Champions League on Wednesday, so we simulated the clash to see if the Gunners could book their spot in the semi-finals.

With the tie hanging in the balance, Arsenal have the chance to advance to the Champions League semi-finals when they take on Bayern Munich in their quarter-final second-leg clash later tonight.

Arsenal's Premier League title hopes suffered a blow on the weekend as the Gunners fell to a 2-0 defeat at home to Aston Villa, with the result along with Liverpool's loss seeing Manchester City move into the top spot. A tough result to take, but there's no time to dwell, with a crucial Champions League clash next.

A 2-2 draw at the Emirates Stadium in the first leg sends Arsenal to Germany needing a win or penalty shootout victory to book their spot in the Champions League semi-finals. Martin Odegaard was a doubt after being subbed off in the defeat to Villa, but the Gunners' captain has trained ahead of tonight's clash.

So, can the Gunners reach the Champions League semis for the first time since 2009? Let's take a look.

We simulated Bayern Munich vs Arsenal to get a score prediction

To complete this simulation, we used EA FC 24 and updated the squads with the latest injuries and suspensions.

We predict the hosts could line up in a 4-2-3-1 formation, with their starting XI as follows: Neuer; Kimmich, De Ligt, Dier, Guerreiro; Goretzka, Laimer; Sane, Muller, Musiala; Kane.

We predict that Arsenal could set up in a 4-3-3 formation, with their line-up as follows: Raya; White, Saliba, Gabriel, Tomiyasu; Jorginho, Odegaard, Rice; Saka, Havertz, Martinelli.

It was all Arsenal from minute one at the Allianz Arena, and Eric Dier almost gifted the visitors the opener when his loose pass fell to the feet of Kai Havertz, but the German's ambitious effort from 40 yards out just missed the target with Manuel Neuer off his line. The early chance gave the Gunners confidence, and in the 28th minute, they took the lead.

A turnover in possession in the middle saw Declan Rice pick out the run of Bukayo Saka who was left in acres of space down the left. The Englishman opened up his body as if he were to curl his effort into the far corner, but a smart finish saw the winger drill a shot past Neuer at the front post to make it 1-0.

After the opener, Arsenal continued to press for more, and they found a second just before half-time when Gabriel Martinelli's driven cross was flicked through the legs of Neuer at the near post by Havertz. It was a well-taken goal by the German who was looking a big threat, and just after the restart he managed to grab another, all but securing the win for Mikel Arteta's side.

Martinelli flicked the ball towards Havertz inside the box who had his back to goal, and some smart movement from the German saw him push away from his marker as he let the ball roll across his body. The striker powered a strike at goal, and a deflection off the chest of Dier saw the ball flash past the 'keeper and into the net for a third of the evening.

Bayern pulled a goal back in added time when Leroy Sane acrobatically fired home a deflected cross at the back post, but it was too little too late as the Gunners booked their spot in the semi-finals.

EA FC 24 predicted final score: Bayern Munich 1-3 Arsenal (Arsenal win 5-3 on aggregate)
