Frustrating transfer after CL exit: Will ManCity snap up Musiala in the summer?

There is still a big question mark over Jamal Musiala’s sporting future at FC Bayern. While the Munich club would like to tie the 21-year-old to the club for the long term, the DFB youngster is taking his time and has not yet made a final decision. According to the latest reports, Manchester City would like to take advantage of this uncertainty next summer.

Even though Jamal Musiala has repeatedly emphasised recently that he feels very much at home in Munich, rumours persist that the attacking all-rounder could leave the German record champions prematurely in the summer.

As the British Guardian now reports, Manchester City have made the FCB youngster their number one transfer target. Pep Guardiola is said to have expressed a clear desire to lure Musiala to the Etihad Stadium in the coming transfer window. According to rumours, the Sky Blues are prepared to pay up to £120 million for the German international, which equates to around €140 million. This would make Musiala the most expensive transfer in the club’s history.

According to Guardian, Guardiola is not satisfied with his personnel options in attacking midfield. Accordingly, the Citizens‘ interest is well advanced. Chelsea FC are also said to be interested in Musiala, but the Blues only have an outside chance.

Bayern fighting for Musiala

Munich do not want to know anything about a sale in the summer of 2024. Bayern bosses have repeatedly emphasised recently that Musiala should become „the new face of FC Bayern“. The problem is that his contract only runs until 2026, and while the transfer rumours can still be viewed in a relaxed light this summer, this will change significantly in the coming months if Musiala does not sign a new contract with FCB.

According to transfer insider Fabrizio Romano, Bayern have categorically ruled out a Musiala transfer in the summer. Bayern are prepared to fight for the exceptional player and want to convince him to extend his contract at the Isar with a „big contract offer“.

There are currently no concrete talks between the club and the player. As long as Munich do not have a new head coach, an extension seems out of the question. However, Max Eberl & Co. want to intensify their efforts after EURO 2024 at the latest.
