‘You can see’… Benoit Badiashile says he plays so much better when ‘outstanding’ Chelsea player starts too

Chelsea defender Benoit Badiashile has stated he thinks he is a better player when one if his teammates is playing too.

The Frenchman has endured a stop-start first 18 months at Chelsea, missing a large portion of that time due to injury.

His form when he has been fit has been inconsistent to say the least though too, with him being prone to criticism at times for his performances.

However, he has silenced a number of his critics with recent performances, starring especially since the shape changed off the back of Marc Cucurella’s new role.

Badiashile loves playing with Thiago Silva

Badiashile may personally think he knows the reason for his change in form, with him stating that he feels a lot more confident in his ability when he is alongside Thiago Silva.

He said to the Mail Online: “You already know, it will be a great miss for us but we have to continue to work. That’s life. You can see when I play with him I am more confident, but I have to try to be the same player without him because he can’t be with me throughout my career.”

Silva to leave Chelsea this summer

Silva’s time at Stamford Bridge is coming to an end, with there now being just one home game left in his Chelsea career after the announcement that he would not be extending his contract here.

The emotional announcement came with the hint that he could be returning in the future, exciting some about the prospect of him coming back as a coach after he completes his ongoing coaching badges.

His leadership skills are certainly something that the club could do with replacing, and they will be hoping some already at Stamford Bridge have the capability of doing so.

While there will no doubt be hope Badiashile can do this, there is an expectation for academy graduate Levi Colwill to show his leadership skills after a first season where he has already been handed the armband at a point.
