West Ham United and Liverpool are believed to be battling it out for the services of Sporting CP manager Ruben Amorim.

Ruben Amorim is on the radars of both West Ham and Liverpool, and a recent report suggested that Hammers co-owner David Sullivan is actually prepared to meet his £17 million release clause.

David Moyes is clearly finished at the London Stadium, although it was claimed over the weekend that no decision regarding his future will be made until the end of the season.

I just can’t see that being true at all, especially considering the latest links with Sporting CP boss Amorim, 39.

I would absolutely love the Portuguese to come in and take over from Moyes. However, Liverpool’s interest in him is a huge concern, with Jurgen Klopp set to leave Anfield at the end of the season.

The Reds are a Premier League and European powerhouse, and the Sporting coach would surely find it hard to turn them down…or would he?

The 39-year-old is one of Europe’s hottest managerial properties, and it’s easy to see why.

MORE WEST HAM STORIES

His team play an exceptional brand of possession based football, although he is flexible in his tactical approach.

Amorim likes to switch up to a more counter-attacking, transitional style when playing teams with real quality, yet his side have still averaged 58.5% possession this season (Fbref).

The Sporting boss likes his team to play with a real high tempo and intensity, and the speed at which his side play at times really is incredible to watch.

I can see why Liverpool want him to replace Klopp, but it seems as though the Hammers may well have the upper hand in the race for his signature…

According to a report from A Bola, West Ham are prepared to give Amorim the freedom to build his squad in exactly his vision – something that Liverpool aren’t happy to offer him.

I presume this means it will be Amorim calling the shots regarding player recruitment.

If this is true, the 39-year-old could well be London Stadium bound, and we could be well on the way to a bright and prosperous future with him at the helm.

However, I’m not counting my chickens just yet. If West Ham owner David Sullivan does manage to pull this off and beat Liverpool to the appointment of Ruben Amorim, it would be the single greatest achievement of his career in football.
