"Real Madrid have something special"

Bayern midfielder Joshua Kimmich warned ahead of the Champions League semi-final against Real Madrid that the Spanish side "are always dangerous", but said the Bavarians need not "give up on them" either.

"We know that Real Madrid have a lot of experience and with that they have already won a lot of games. Maybe they didn't always have the best team but they have advanced because they believed in their strength and knew their qualities," Kimmich told a press conference.

"I am encouraged. We can go into the game with confidence in ourselves," he said. "I'm looking forward to it. I think all football fans in Europe are. It's a cool feeling to play the semi-final against Real Madrid," he added.

Regarding the tensions between coach Thomas Tuchel and Bayern chairman Uli Hoeness he indicated that the players are "not affected". "The focus is clear and we are right to concentrate," he said.

He also had words for his teammate Jamal Musiala, who he said was almost "a child" when he came into the team and has now been "maturing humanely" and "becoming a man".
