Alan Myers has confirmed that Farhad Moshiri has held Everton ‘discussions’ with new takeover party

Unfortunately, as has been the case all season with Everton, off-the-pitch matters are still dominating the headlines.

And in what will be their last home game of the campaign, where fans will want to give their players and the manager a strong send-off for an admirable year of battling hardships, takeover talk will once again dominate the match-day.

Whether it be chatting finances or discussing the various implications of new ownership, this Premier League term has taken everything that made football so great and turned it into a toxic mess.

Just once it would be nice to show up to Goodison Park, discuss the team selection over a pie, watch the match and leave, free from these alternative necessities.

But these are the most important facets of the sport nowadays, and as such interest remains high.

Alan Myers confirms new takeover interest

777 Partners have come under increasing scrutiny in recent weeks for their unrelenting misdeeds that have spanned an entire season.

Having forged a deal with Farhad Moshiri to acquire Everton in September, here we are eight months later no closer to a conclusion.

Alan Myers, as one of the most trusted and reliable sources regarding the club, has sought to keep fans in the loop throughout this miserable process.

But even he seems to have no positive information to bring, likely because the Iranian owner has his mind set on selling to this one shady, unreliable party.

That being said, upon replying to a fan who was asking about Qatari interest in the club, he did manage to deliver at least a shred of positivity that there may be alternative investors waiting in the wings just after he referenced a potential Tim Cahill involvement too.

He claimed: ‘It’s entirely possible of course, I know FM had discussions in Qatar during the WC so fingers crossed.’

Everton would benefit from a cash-rich 777 Partners rival

The lack of alternative interest aside from 777 Partners has been largely accepted all season, with exclusivity agreements and the fact that they seemed to be nearing a conclusion likely warding many off.

However, as time has passed and little has changed, surely those who were previously sniffing around have had their interest reignited.

After all, it is clear now that all Moshiri wants to move on is his money, and with the Miami-based firm suggesting they had it, he was more than happy to sell.

But should a cash-rich alternative emerge, potentially of Qatari descent, then everyone involved would benefit.

The fans would get a hugely lucrative benefactor to hopefully end their plight and finish off the various projects ongoing at Everton.

Meanwhile, Moshiri would get his money and that speedy departure he craves, whilst 777 gets their loans repaid.

If there are such new buyers waiting for their chance to pounce, now is as good a time as any.
