Liverpool are considering whether to make a move to sign a really talented Chelsea player this summer.

The Reds will be under new management very soon. Jurgen Klopp has already announced that he will be leaving the club, and the search for a new manager is underway.

Liverpool are not expected to make any new signings until a new manager is appointed, but like any other team, the Merseysiders have a list of targets already.

Reinforcements are required in multiple areas of the pitch, but we think Liverpool‘s priority will be to strengthen their defence this summer.

The decision-makers at the club are now thinking of signing a Chelsea player.

Liverpool are considering whether to bid for Chelsea’s Levi Colwill

Liverpool’s defence needs work, doesn’t it?

Joe Matip is all set to leave the club at the end of his contract this summer, while Virgil van Dijk, who is 32 already, is not getting any younger.

The priority for the Reds has to be a left-sided centre-half, preferably someone who is left-footed as well. That would offer a better balance to their side.

What would be even more handy is if they could sign a player who could play at left-back as well when Andy Robertson needs a break or is unavailable.

That’s why Chelsea defender Levi Colwill is on Liverpool’s radar again, with GiveMeSport claiming that the Reds are privately ‘mulling over whether to attempt’ to sign him this summer.

Liverpool have had an eye on Colwill for a while now. The Reds were really interested in signing him last year after his successful loan spell at Brighton.

Chelsea managed to keep hold of him then and extended his contract at the club.

Now, with PSR and FFP set to be a concern for the Blues, there is a small chance they could be forced to consider offers for Colwill if it arrives.

Levi Colwill has already made a surprise Liverpool admission

Levi Colwill is a very talented young defender.

The 21-year-old has been a part of a struggling Chelsea side this season, but his talent is there for everyone to see. Under the right manager, he has the potential to develop into a brilliant defender.

Liverpool are right to target Colwill – they would’ve signed him last summer if Chelsea were ready to let him go.

Now, if a move becomes possible this summer, Colwill could consider it, and his dad may even help the Reds get a deal over the line.

That’s because Colwill’s father is a big Liverpool fan.

“My dad, Levi, is a real Liverpool fan… he tells me all the news, injuries, the knowledge that fans have that I wouldn’t really know myself,” Colwill said a couple of months ago.
