Fans were left stunned after seeing one of the best refereeing decisions in history during Paris Saint-Germain vs Borussia Dortmund.

Dortmund went to the Parc des Princes with a 1-0 lead from the Champions League semi-final first leg after Niclas Fullkrug's solitary strike.

And they found themselves in dreamland when Mats Hummels doubled the lead on aggregate with a header five minutes into the second half.

Dortmund produced an incredible defensive performance to reach the final 11 years after their last appearance at Wembley.

But equally the man in the middle, Daniele Orsato, was also faultless.

And the Italian official was responsible for an excellent, split-second call that many supporters were raving about.

PSG looked like they had won a penalty when Hummels brought down former Dortmund winger Ousmane Dembele.

Orsato appeared to point the spot at first before changing his mind in giving a free-kick.

PSG were incensed but replays showed the foul was just outside the box.

It could not have been any closer and Orsato was deservedly praised for getting it spot on under immense pressure.

One fan wrote: "Daniele Orsato just made one of the closest calls a referee could make in a UCL semi final. And he was absolutely spot on."How often do you see A second said: "A referee swallow the optics to change his mind on a call like that? Brilliant job by Italian referee Daniele Orsato."

A third stated: "You watch Daniele Orsato officiate a football match and you wonder where Simon Hooper and Co. got their referee certificates."

Another added: "Good refereeing by Daniele Orsato tonight."

Orsato also waved away protests in stoppage time when Kylian Mbappe went down under the challenge of Nico Schlotterbeck.

Dortmund will face either Real Madrid or Bundesliga rivals Bayern Munich in the final.

Their semi-final tie is evenly poised at 2-2 going into the second leg at the Santiago Bernabeu.
