Newcastle United striker Callum Wilson is reportedly being courted by Saudi Pro League club Al-Ittihad ahead of the summer transfer window. The Magpies agreeing a deal with one of their Saudi sister clubs could directly impact Arsenal's plans, which are said to include Alexander Isak.

According to the Independent, Mikel Arteta has locked in on Isak to upgrade his title-challenging attack amid an outstanding second season in English football.

Isak initially struggled with injuries after completing a £63million switch from Real Sociedad in 2022. However, he has come to life this term, scoring 20 goals in 27 league appearances - 24 of them starts.

The 24-year-old is claimed to be at the top of Arsenal's striker shortlist but Newcastle are strongly against considering a sale and reportedly plan to offer him a new contract.

Their stance could soon be strengthened by the sale of Wilson amid interest in adding him to the football revolution in Saudi Arabia.

According to the Mirror, Al-Ittihad are weighing up a £20m swoop for Wilson as doubts about Karim Benzema's future at last season's Saudi champions grow.

Al-Ittihad, like Newcastle, are owned by Saudi Arabia's Public Investment Fund (PIF). Wilson wouldn't be the first player to leave St James' Park for the Middle Eastern state.

Last summer, one of the Magpies' star men, Allan Saint-Maximin, boosted the club's transfer kitty by joining Al-Ahli in a deal worth around £25m.

Wilson's future is already uncertain after he was the subject of heavyweight interest in the January transfer window. Atletico Madrid saw an approach rejected.

He will enter the final year of his Newcastle contract this summer and is now reportedly viewed as a potential replacement for Benzema in Jeddah.

Wilson netted the opener in Eddie Howe's side's 4-1 win against Burnley at Turf Moor on Saturday to fuel their push for Europa League qualification.

In doing so, the 32-year-old became Newcastle's second-highest goalscorer in the Premier League with a tally of 47, surpassing Peter Beardsley.

He won't be reaching Alan Shearer's 148 total, but the Tyneside club will hope that Isak is ready to ignore the growing interest in his signature and attempt to enjoy similar success himself.
