Chelsea duo Enzo Fernandez and Mykhailo Mudryk will be tied down for a combined 15 years after respective contract extensions.

The Premier League side are nearing the end of yet another disappointing season where they currently sit ninth in the table. While silverware is not an option this campaign, the opportunity for European football exists with spots for the Europa Conference League and Europa League up for grabs.

Despite the less-than-impressive campaign from the five-time Premier League winners, they've opted to extend the already lengthy contracts of Fernandez and Mudryk.

The club triggered one-year extensions on their deals, according to the Evening Standard, which means Mudyrk will be 30 and Fernandez will be 31 by the time they expire.

The young stars arrived at Stamford Bridge together in January 2023 for mammoth transfer fees with the Ukrainian winger, 23, costing Chelsea an initial fee of £62million which could rise to £89m based on add-ons.

Fernandez, 23, who was fresh off a World Cup triumph with Argentina, became the most expensive player in British transfer history when Todd Boehly and co forked out £107m to Benfica for his services.

Details on the duo's contracts were released last week by the FA as part of their annual agent payments report which showed that the Blues spent a record £75.1m on agent’s fees from February 2023 to 2024.

The figure is quite is significantly higher than reigning Premier League champions Manchester City who spent £60.6m, while Manchester United in comparison paid out £34m, less than half of what Chelsea managed in the 12-month period.

The colossal spending that's taken place at Stamford Bridge since the arrival of Todd Boehly in the summer of 2022 could have major consequences with members of the club's hierarchy allegedly willing to sell a number of players in order to comply with Financial Fair Play and the Premier League's Profit and Sustainability Rules.

Homegrown stars such as Conor Gallagher, Reece James, and Trevoh Chalobah are just a few players who've been linked with a move away when the transfer window re-opens.
