Atletico Madrid president Enrique Cerezo said on Wednesday hours before the second leg of the Champions League semi-final between Real Madrid and Bayern Munich that "if there can be a Spanish team in the final, all the better".

"I have to go to a dinner, and the truth is that we won't be able to see it, although it will be a great match in which neither of them will have it easy. But if there can be a Spanish team in the final, so much the better," Cerezo told reporters.

His team have failed to reach the semi-finals after Borussia Dortmund knocked them out in the quarter-finals. The Germans have been the sensation of this year's competition, not only knocking out Atletico, they have also seen off PSG and booked their ticket to Wembley.

Enrique Cerezo is clear that the presence of a Spanish team in the final is the best thing for football, despite the rivalry between Real Madrid and Atletico.
