Rúben Amorim is 'ready' to become Liverpool manager as six clubs join $54m transfer race

Latest Liverpool news as Rúben Amorim has been tipped to succeed Jürgen Klopp. The Reds could face a battle with six other clubs for a midfielder's signature.

Liverpool faces an uphill battle to rescue its remaining hopes of silverware this season. Jürgen Klopp's aim to end his time in charge with the Premier League title and Europa League is hanging by a thread after a nightmare week, and his side will need to bounce back in some style this week. Here is a round-up of the latest Liverpool news.

Amorim 'ready' for Liverpool job

Former Rangers boss Pedro Caixinha believes Rúben Amorim is ready to become Liverpool manager. The Sporting CP boss is the favorite to take over from Jürgen Klopp in the summer, with the German leaving after nearly nine years in charge.

Amorim denied last week that there is any agreement in place with the Reds to become the club’s new manager. The 39-year-old though has not ruled out leaving Sporting this summer, and fellow countryman Caixinha believes he would be ready to take the Anfield job.

“Rúben Amorim is ready for Liverpool and I don’t think he’s too young,” Caixinha told Portuguese outlet Bola na Rede. “He has maturity, footballing experience, knowledge and preparation.

“There’s been a lot of talk about his preparation, because he didn’t have a Pro Licence and he was on the bench. He was, if I’m not mistaken, the only national champion to then finish the UEFA Pro course and, as far as I know, he did it with the same humility and naturalness.

“He had already completed a postgraduate course. He’s a person who wants to graduate and believes in what he does. He’s very proud, incisive, but he knows that the path is there and it’s for him, and that everyone has to follow it.”

Liverpool in battle with six clubs for Koopmeiners

Liverpool could face competition from as many as six other clubs for the signing of Teun Koopmeiner. According to HITC, Newcastle, Tottenham, Manchester United and Chelsea all had scouts at Anfield for the Reds’ first leg of the Europa League quarter-final against Atalanta, while Juventus and Napoli have also been linked.

Koopmeiners was a standout performer as Atalanta shocked Liverpool to take a 3-0 lead into this week’s second leg in Bergamo. The Reds have also been touted as a possible destination for the midfielder, who has already told his club he wants to leave in the summer.

According to Gazzetta dello Sport last month, Liverpool has been monitoring Koopmeiners, and his performance last week wouldn’t have done him any harm. Atalanta would reportedly be looking for around $54m (£43m/€50m) for his services.
