Bukayo Saka and Declan Rice celebrate Arsenal's victory over Tottenham Hotspur

Arsenal stars Bukayo Saka and Declan Rice rubbed salt in the wounds of Tottenham Hotspur fans after a big victory in the North London Derby.

The Gunners managed to obtain an unassailable lead in the first half, beginning after 15 minutes as Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg diverted a corner into his goal. Saka made it two just before the half-hour mark as he placed a left-footed effort beyond the dive of Guglielmo Vicario.

Kai Havertz's powerful header made it 3-0 before the half-time whistle which was met with jeers. Spurs were handed a lifeline with 25 minutes remaining as a David Raya mistake allowed Cristian Romero to slot home.

A grandstand finish ensued when Son Heung-min scored from the penalty spot following a Rice foul but a backs-to-the-wall effort pushed the Gunners over the line. After the game, the two key Arsenal players couldn't stop themselves from celebrating the bragging rights on social media.

Saka wrote on Instagram: "North London, you’re OURS! Always & Forever. THE Arsenal," Rice then followed up with the post: "North London is…"

The victory at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium means Arsenal have won three of the last four games against their fierce rivals. Spurs' last win in the fixture came in May 2022 when they managed a 3-0 victory which ended the Gunners' hopes of finishing in the top four.

Ironically, Arsenal may have ended Spurs' hopes of a top four finish in 2024. Tottenham are now seven points behind fourth-placed Aston Villa with two games in hand over their rivals as a dramatic culmination to the Premier League season is set for its climax.
