What Ruben Amorim wants to be new boss in his next job will blow West Ham minds as details emerged overnight.

The prospect of appointing Ruben Amorim sent West Ham fans into a frenzy earlier this week.

Sporting’s highly-rated and coveted young boss started the week by flying to London for talks with the Hammers.

But he will end it as one of 14 managers linked with West Ham.

And, most perhaps most damningly for any hopes he might still be David Moyes’ successor, by holding a press conference today where he’s expected to apologise for the Hammers trip and to admit he made a mistake.

Never a dull moment at West Ham is there?

Well the plot thickened as more information emerged from Portugal.

That being Amorim allegedly using the Hammers talks to pressure Liverpool into offering him the job at Anfield.

The prospect of Amorim joining West Ham – who are unlikely to be in Europe next season – did not go down too well in Portugal.

West Ham’s Amorim plot thickens

The Hammers were deemed inferior to his current club from a sporting perspective.

And there was a feeling Amorim should only be leaving Sporting for an elite club – like Liverpool.

But if that was Amorim’s intention then it backfired spectacularly. Because the Reds have instead turned to Arne Slot as Jurgen Klopp’s successor.

Much to the delight of West Ham supporters who felt slighted by the 39-year-old’s rather underhanded actions.

There has been some hope among a small portion of fans that a move for Amorim could be resurrected given Liverpool’s switch to Slot. And also given Bayern are looking to appoint Ralf Ragnick while Xavi is staying with Barcelona.

But we’re guessing regardless of what happens the Sporting boss will be well outside West Ham’s price range.

What Amorim wants to be new boss will blow West Ham minds

What Amorim wants to be new boss will blow West Ham minds as details emerge.

Portuguese journalist Pedro Sepulveda has been right across the Amorim story this week. He was the reporter who posted pictures and details of the young manager’s flight to West Ham for talks.

Sepulveda has revealed Amorim’s personal financial demands made to Liverpool about what he expected if he was to leave Sporting.

You might want to make sure you are sitting down.

He claims Amorim wanted Liverpool to pay him a £10m signing on fee plus £10m per year for his three-year contract.

That’s a whopping £40m on the manager’s fee and salary alone before a player has even been signed.

And that’s not to mention the reported release clause West Ham would have had to pay to get him out of Sporting as a non-Champions League club.

Some of the reporter’s posts have been targeted with ‘community notes’ by disgruntled fans

The £40m manager?

Staggering. No wonder those talks with West Ham are reported to have ‘not gone well’.

West Ham may feel they have dodged a bullet here. Others might feel he would have been well worth the investment.

Who knows, he may elevate the Hammers to such a level that he repays that figure many times over?

Yes Amorim is one of world’s most innovative young coaches.

And yes the Hammers faithful were excited about him as they desperately crave a more progressive, attack-minded, modern manager.

But that is some salary to be saddled with – especially if things did not work out for any reason.

Perhaps it is better West Ham look elsewhere, as focus now seems to have turned to Amorim’s compatriot Paulo Fonseca.
