Roy Keane directed a fiery rant at Ian Wright.

On Monday Manchester United were dismantled 4-0 at Crystal Palace, with Michael Olise claiming a brace either side of Jean-Philippe Mateta and Tyrick Mitchell’s goals.

The result put further pressure on Erik ten Hag, whose future at the club has come into question amid United missing out on Champions League football next term.

And while discussing Ten Hag’s suitability as United manager in light of the Palace humbling, Keane and Wright found themselves in a heated debate.

Speaking on Stick to Football, via Sky Bet, Wright compared Palace’s transformation under Oliver Glasner in just 13 games with Ten Hag’s difficulties at United across two seasons.

Wright said: “I’m thinking to myself with [Ten Hag], what more is that manager going to do? Like I just mentioned with Glasner. In 13 games Palace have changed.

“Obviously they went with [Frank] de Boer. It didn’t work. Then they went to Roy [Hodgson]. They then went with Patrick [Vieira] and it didn’t work. Back to Roy.

“They want to do something where they can go somewhere else and they’ve now found a manager who has won stuff as well. Let’s face it. And look at the Palace team -"

Roy Keane interjected: “Are you comparing Crystal Palace to Man United? Where are Palace in the league? Palace are in a good little run at home.”

Wright replied: “But Palace have just changed their manager 13 games [ago]”, to which Keane replied: “So Palace have got all the answers then?”

Keane furiously added, while talking over Wright: “Do you know why they’re doing well Palace? They’ve got two of their best players playing. They’ve got two very good players. Palace are 14th in the league so don’t get all excited about Crystal Palace.”

Wright responded: “It’s got nothing to do with getting all excited about Crystal Palace. What I’m excited about with Palace is that their manager is changing something.”

In response to Gary Neville noting that Roy Hodgson didn’t have the luxury of playing Eberechi Eze and Michael Olise for months at Palace, Wright replied: “Even without them they still didn’t play the brand of football that Glasner’s playing.

“We’re talking about Adam Wharton and [Will] Hughes playing great football. Passing it through. Joachim Andersen passing it long. They’ve got a structure of playing is all I’m trying to say.

“You lot saying [Erik ten Hag] will still be there in the summer.”

Keane went in for one last jibe, saying: “Where are Palace in the league? 14th?”, to which Wright replied: “Yeah, I’m not bothered about where they are.”
