Harry Kane says Man Utd legend is the ‘best finisher in football history’, he doesn’t even hesitate

Manchester United never concluded their pursuit of Tottenham Hotspur’s Harry Kane, and unfortunately for the Red Devils, he found his way to the Bundesliga with Bayern Munich.

But despite a goal-scoring season that surpasses even his high standards – he still is set to achieve his usual outcome at the end of the season. He is going to go trophyless.

After Joselu of Real Madrid completed a spectacular comeback at the Bernabeu, this now means that Harry Kane has bowed out of the Champions League, and can no longer obtain silverware with Die Roten.

Chances were few and far between against Real Madrid for Kane, but he just couldn’t get himself into the game. Antonio Rudiger and Nacho Fernandez did a remarkable job of suppressing the England captain.

He could’ve done with channelling a certain Manchester United legend who is all too familiar with the winning and goalscoring feeling in the Champions League.

In a quickfire interview with GOAL, Tottenham Hotspur’s all-time leading goalscorer was asked who he believes is the greatest finisher of all time. He had a clear winner in mind from the off.

“Stay quiet until you hear the best finisher in football history. Henrik Larsson? Ruud van Nisterooy? Zlatan Ibrahimovic? Miroslav Klose? Mohamed Salah? Kylian Mbappe? Luis Suarez? Robert Lewandowski? Erling Haaland? R9? Lionel Messi?”

Then the interviewer asks one final player: “Cristiano Ronaldo?” Kane immediately replies, “Ronnie.”

Kane had absolutely no doubt in going for CR7, who has scored a record 890 senior career goals for club and country. Insane.

The difference between Harry Kane and Cristiano Ronaldo

Kane is up there with one of the best finishers ever, but there is one major difference between him and the Portuguese goal-getter. The rewards for his strikes.

Ronaldo has won 33 trophies in his career, including seven league titles, five Champions Leagues, the UEFA European Championship and the UEFA Nations League. Kane, a grand spanking zero.

This may change in the coming years, with Bayern Munich usually a German powerhouse and England looking ever the more likely to bring a trophy home. But, for now, the Harry Kane curse continues.
