Premier League fans tore into Chelsea for their woeful attempts of stopping Arsenal's early goal.
The Blues came into the contest missing five of their best defenders in Reece James, Thiago Silva, Levi Colwill, Wesley Fofana and Ben Chilwell. However, despite the fact they were missing some of their most important players, there was little sympathy for Mauricio Pochettino's side.
Declan Rice was allowed to run directly at the back-peddling Blues back-line and then slide a clever pass through to Leandro Trossard, who buried his effort past Djordje Petrovic in the Chelsea goal. Unfortunately for the West Londoners, there was no mercy for their youngsters.
“Far too easy for Arsenal as they cut through Chelsea's defence," one fan wrote. “That defence is the last sign that Poch isn't the right coach for Chelsea," a second added.
A third also said: “This is honestly the worst Chelsea defence I’ve seen in my lifetime," before a fourth said: "This defence is a shambles already." Another merciless supporter added: “Chelsea defenders forgot to defend.”
Chelsea did arrive into the contest at the Emirates Stadium having not lost a Premier League match since their 4-2 home defeat to Wolverhampton Wanderers in February.
However, their lack of defensive cohesion in the first ten minutes cost them dearly in North London.
As well as the defensive stars above, Chelsea were also without dynamic right-back Malo Gusto and star man Cole Palmers. The lack of experience was also reflected in the fact that their first eleven was the youngest any Chelsea team that had ever faced Arsenal.
Before the match, Pochettino said: "It's a difficult time. Because of the circumstance never help us to be solid and to be in a position on the level we wanted. It is difficult to match the history of Chelsea."
