Newcastle United co-owner Amanda Staveley has reacted to the club’s 4-1 victory at Burnley.

Eddie Howe’s side strengthened their European qualification bid by moving up to sixth in the Premier League table. Goals from Callum Wilson, Sean Longstaff and Bruno Guimaraes put United 3-0 up at half-time before Alexander Isak added a fourth moments after missing a penalty.

Dara O’Shea’s late header denied the Magpies a clean sheet but that didn’t dampen spirits. The win on the road was only the fifth time that’s happened in the Premier League this season.

“We’ve got three games to go and we want to try and give our best in each game,” said Howe. “We want to try and play with the energy and intensity we had today. I thought we looked really good physically with a lot of pace in our team.

“We’ve got those key qualities to give any team a difficult afternoon. Our away form has been inconsistent, it’s really good to see us win on the road in such an impressive way.”

And taking to Instagram after the game, Staveley revealed her pride at the result. She said: “A huge congratulations to @nufc on today’s performance. What an outstanding match - I’m so proud of each and every member of this Club 🖤🤍”

Meanwhile, fellow co-owner Jamie Reuben added: “Top performance today by @NUFC. Our supporters brilliant again. Thank you for making the journey.”

Newcastle have just three games remaining to see through their European challenge. Brighton and Hove Albion visit St James’ Park on Saturday but the Magpies end the campaign with away games at Manchester United and Brentford.
