Simon Jordan has responded to Ollie Watkins after the Aston Villa striker called out the talkSPORT pundit after victory over Arsenal.

Watkins revealed he heard Jordan writing off Villa’s chances against the Gunners on the radio ahead of the clash at the Emirates Stadium on Sunday. And after scoring Villa’s second goal in the 2-0 win in the Premier League, Watkins said it was nice to make Jordan “eat his own words”.

“I put TalkSPORT on going to training the other day and heard Simon Jordan saying he’s not worried about me or Aston Villa causing Arsenal problems,” he said. “It is nice to prove doubters wrong. Nice for him to eat his own words, really.”

Jordan responded to Watkins’ comments on social media platform X on Tuesday morning, writing: “Fair comment!”

“It was all a secret motivational tool,” he added, with a winking face emoji. “I like to think all the nice things I’ve said about Mr Watkins over the years have also been heard.”
