Jamie Carragher has claimed that one Chelsea player has reminded him of Dele Alli when he was at Tottenham Hotspur.

Mauricio Pochettino‘s side are currently ninth in the Premier League table and fans haven’t been happy. However, Chelsea’s players gave the supporters something to cheer about last night – a brilliant 6-0 win over Everton.

Cole Palmer scored four goals for the Blues, including a first-half hat-trick. Nicolas Jackson and Alfie Gilchrist found the net too to help their side pick up their best result of the season.

Carragher seemed particularly impressed with one Chelsea player last night.

Chelsea signed Cole Palmer from Manchester City last summer, and he has been incredible.

The Englishman is undoubtedly Chelsea’s best player. His four goals last night took his tally up to 23 in all competitions for the Blues this season. He also has 13 assists to his name.

Those are some outrageous numbers for a 21-year-old, and everyone has been impressed with how well he has been performing in his debut season at Stamford Bridge.

Carragher was with Dele Alli on Sky Sports’ Monday Night Football yesterday, and the Liverpool legend delivered a very interesting verdict on Cole Palmer.

After watching him score four times, Carragher called him Chelsea’s best player, which is obvious, but the comment that caught our eye was that he reminded the Sky Sports pundit of a young Alli.

Carragher said: “The thing that stands out for me, we know his quality right now but to go to a big club like Chelsea, a club who have spent hundreds of millions on players all over the world, and he just comes in, a guy who can’t get a game at Man City, and he’s owning it.

“He’s the best player at Chelsea, he is the main man.

“And it’s not just the ability, it takes some personality and character. That’s something that when I first saw you play [Dele] as a young boy and going into a Tottenham team and going up against the top players in the Premier League, that mentality and presence you had, I see that as a player in him as well. It’s not just about ability.”

Cole Palmer produced a truly incredible performance for Chelsea against Everton last night.

Four goals in a single game including a hat-trick in the first half is just remarkable, and it becomes even more impressive when you consider that he’s still just 21 and is in his debut campaign at Chelsea.

In what was a brilliant performance last night, Palmer became the first-ever Chelsea player to score in seven straight games.

He also became the first Chelsea player to score more than 20 goals in all competitions since Eden Hazard in the 2018/19 season.

Lastly, Palmer became the first Blues player since Diego Costa in the 2014/15 campaign to score 20 goals or more in all competitions in his debut season at the club.

Palmer is proving to be a terrific player for Chelsea, and it’s no surprise that Todd Boehly wants to make him the club’s new poster boy.
