‘Your hair can't be that black at that age’ - Mikel Arteta accused of ‘dyeing his hair every day’ as Man Utd legend launches bizarre attack on Arsenal boss and claims Gunners are suffering ‘psychological collapse’

Mikel Arteta has been accused of "dyeing his hair every day" as Manchester United legend believes Arsenal are suffering from "psychological collapse".

  • Arsenal were ousted from UCL and slipped in PL
  • Can hardly afford to drop points to keep title hopes alive
  • Yorke believes Arsenal are succumbing to pressure

WHAT HAPPENED?

Despite the pressure of managing a top-tier English football club, the 42-year-old Spanish manager sports a healthy coverage of jet-black foliage over his scalp. His rich hair growth might be a thing of envy of many football managers and former players who have a receding hairline or have turned bald.

WHAT DWIGHT YORKE SAID

Mikel Arteta Wolves Arsenal

Former United striker, Dwight Yorke, might be one of those as the ex-striker has bizarrely claimed that Arteta colours his hair to hide the silver ones.

Speaking to TVSportGuide, Yorke said: "Will Arteta start getting grey hairs? You can't see grey hairs if you dye your hair every day. Arteta won't allow that to show. Your hair can't be that black at that age."

THE BIGGER PICTURE

Nonetheless, Arteta might get to pluck a few white hairs at the end of the campaign if Arsenal continue to tread on shaky soil in the final lap of the season with the Premier League title at stake. They slipped to Aston Villa in the league and got ousted from the Champions League by Bayer Munich which has suddenly put question marks on their ability to handle pressure in the business end of the season.

"Arsenal's annual collapse in April is concerning for the club," said Yorke.

"Every time they come to the business end of the season, we've seen them lose some important games. It's a psychological reason, because they were playing some of the best football in the league weeks ago, managing to score at least four goals a game, so it's an unbelievable change. It's pressure getting to the players and Mikel Arteta.

"We usually see the manager run up and down the touchline, but now it looks like he's running out of energy. Arteta has to be careful, he looks like he's become cautious and defensive mode, and his body language is not what it was a month ago. Compare his body language in interviews and on the side of the pitch, and tell me you don't see a difference. The pressure is likely to blow up in his face again, and that will be a disaster for Arsenal. The intensity in his interviews is not what it used to be."

WHAT NEXT?

Martin Odegaard Wolves Arsenal

After a disastrous mid-April collapse, Arsenal bounced back with a 2-0 win against Wolves on Saturday evening. They are a point ahead of Manchester City but Pep Guardiola's men have a game in hand. However, the Gunners can further extend their lead if they bag the three points over Chelsea in a London derby on Tuesday evening before City face Brighton and Hove Albion on Thursday.
