Alan Shearer was on punditry duty for Match of the Day on Sunday night, after West Ham United lost 2-0 at home to Fulham.

West Ham were awful against Fulham – a result that saw us drop down to eighth place in the Premier League table, and Alan Shearer delivered his verdict on where we’re at as a club right now.

The pressure on David Moyes is beginning to really crank up, with the Hammers having won just four games out of our last 20.

The Scot spoke out after our defeat to Fulham, and blamed the poor performance on the fact that we played on Thursday night out in Germany.

Things have gone downhill for West Ham since the turn of the year. After our win over Arsenal at the Emirates on December 28th, we sat comfortably in sixth place in the table.

However, Moyes and his players have regressed badly since then. The January transfer window was a disaster for us, with Said Benrahma and Pablo Fornals leaving the club.

No replacements were brought in and as a result, the same 13 players or so have been flogged to death week in, week out.

MORE WEST HAM STORIES

Now Moyes has a fatigued team on his hands with really difficult fixtures against some big teams on the horizon.

The thing is, we’ve been terrible this season on the whole. The football has been atrocious on the most part, despite the fact that Moyes has the likes of Lucas Paqueta, Mohammed Kudus and Jarrod Bowen amongst his ranks.

Now Alan Shearer has delivered his take on the Hammers’ current situation…

Pathetic Match of the Day West Ham ‘analysis’ from Alan Shearer

The Hammers fans inside the London Stadium and on social media platforms were really unhappy with Moyes on Sunday.

And Alan Shearer made it very clear what he thinks about the goings on at West Ham right now, when speaking on the BBC’s Match of the Day:

“I look at West Ham in eighth position, two points off sixth, I would say be careful what you wish for. Their recruitment has been very good. In terms of where they think they should be, other than Aston Villa, I think they’re top of their league if you like, in terms of how high West Ham can actually go.”

Another clueless pundit who doesn’t watch us.

West Ham fans cannot be accused of demanding too much. We went 43 years without seeing our team win a major trophy for heaven’s sake!

All we want to see week in, week out is a committed team of 11 players who play entertaining football. That doesn’t mean that we can’t be successful either!

Why can Aston Villa and Tottenham fans demand this but we can’t? It’s only ‘little old West Ham’ I suppose – what right do we have to want to see some good football!

Alan Shearer summed up the general feeling about West Ham fans from pundits and supporters of other clubs.

He couldn’t be more wrong though. The ‘be careful what you wish for’ cliche really is becoming very tiresome to hear isn’t it.
