Arsene Wenger has disagreed with a claim that was made in front of him about Arsenal and Mikel Arteta.

The Gunners are in Munich right now, gearing up for the second leg of their quarter-final clash against Bayern Munich this evening.

The two sides drew 2-2 at the Emirates last week, and that has set the tie up perfectly for a great game of football at the Allianz Arena tonight.

Even though all the focus is on the game, we’re sure recent Premier League results – the defeat to Aston Villa and the draw against Manchester City – will be on the back of some players’ minds.

Wenger had his say on Arsenal‘s performance and result at the Etihad.

Arsene Wenger disagrees with claim about Mikel Arteta and Arsenal

The game between Arsenal and Manchester City at the Etihad was viewed by many as a title decider.

Everyone in the country was looking forward to a great game of football, but it was an underwhelming evening for the neutral – the two sides, combined, had three shots on target.

A point at the Etihad is never a bad result for Arsenal, but following their defeat to Aston Villa on Sunday, many people are questioning their decision to not push harder for a win against Manchester City.

Arsene Wenger was asked about this on beIN Sports yesterday, and the legendary Frenchman stressed on the importance of taking the chances when they’re in front of you.

“I didn’t like too much to encourage the cautiousness because it comes naturally with the fear to lose,” said Wenger. “Overall, I have to say, you have to go for it.”

The Frenchman added: “On the day, I would say, Arsenal made a great performance, but you had the feeling there was a little bit more in the game.”

Didier Domi then pointed out how Arsenal’s project is still ongoing and these experiences will help them learn next season.

“Is it not a natural process for them that they built that team four years ago, they are growing year after year. Maybe it will be the lessons for the next years.”

Wenger quickly disagreed. He said: “It doesn’t work like that.”

Domi tried again by saying: “But the fact that they are a young team, they are growing together. Even Arteta is still a young coach. That was just my question.”

Wenger replied: “Yes, of course, they do very well, but you have to win when you can win.”

The five results that could cost Arsenal the Premier League title

Arsenal are still in the Premier League title race, but following the defeat to Aston Villa last weekend, it is no longer on their hands.

Wenger has had his say on the game against Manchester City, but as we said earlier, a point away from home against your biggest rivals is not a bad result at all.

If Arsenal do fail to win the Premier League title this season, they will look at five other games in which they dropped points.

The Gunners picked up just one point out of a possible six against Fulham, zero against Aston Villa and also dropped three against West Ham United at home.

Out of a possible 15 points in those five fixtures, Arsenal picked up just one point. Even if they had won two of the above four games that they lost, they would be on top of the table right now.
