Aston Villa are enjoying a superb season under Unai Emery, and on Tuesday, the Villans had yet more reason to celebrate.

Villa have announced that Emery has agreed a contract extension at Villa Park until the summer of 2027.

The 52-year-old has been a revelation since taking the Villans reins in October 2022. At the time, they were a lowly 17th in the table, but he guided them to seventh by the end of the season.

Villa have since kicked on, with Emery leading them into the Europa Conference League semi-finals and into the top four of the Premier League table.

Emery has helped build Villa including playing a key role in the recruitment of Monchi as President of Football Operations and in promoting his assistant Dami Vidagany to director of football operations.

TBR Football understands Villa made their move to extend Emery after it was brought to their attention that Bayern Munich and Barcelona had him on their radar.

TBR sources confirm that Emery assured Villa that he had no intention of abandoning the project in Birmingham anytime soon and has now agreed a one-year extension taking him to 2027 as his previous deal already tied him to the club until 2026.

It’s not surprising to hear that the likes of Bayern and Barcelona were circling around Emery.

The Spaniard has shown his quality at the highest level for years now, and he’s certainly displaying the Midas touch at Aston Villa.

It didn’t take long for Emery to drag Villa out of a relegation battle and into the European picture. He has also done very well to attract some top signings to B6.

Since Emery’s appointment at Villa Park, only Manchester City, Arsenal and Liverpool have accumulated more Premier League points.

And if all goes well, the Villans could finish the season with a trophy and with a Champions League spot next term. The future is certainly bright for the claret and blue club.
