Former Chelsea star John Terry has now sung the praises of one young star at Stamford Bridge.
He told ‘Up Front with Simon Jordan’ that he believes they have a player who is going to become extremely important for them in the coming years.
Given just how impressive Terry was at Stamford Bridge as a starter for the best part of 17 years, it is fair that he would have a good eye now as to who will be a top player and who won’t.
This is especially true of the centre-back position, with Levi Colwill one of those who many are expecting big things from.
One of those is Terry, who has stated that he has high hopes for the England international, although believes he could prosper from another season alongside veteran defender Thiago Silva.
He said: “We’ve got some good players in the group. Is there gonna be change in the summer? Yes, there’s gonna be an evolution of players who will come and go. In my opinion, we need a bit of experience in there.
“We’ve got Thiago on the verge of leaving. He has been unbelievable. And I’m looking at Levi Colwill – I think he’s going to be a very, very good player. Alongside Thiago Silva for another season, I think he’s going to be an even better player.”
Colwill has unfortunately seen the second half of his campaign badly affected by injuries, meaning he has missed some crucial games in the run in towards the end of the season.
This could be behind why goals have been flying into their net on a far more regular basis than before, causing real concern for supporters.
It looks as if Silva will be saying goodbye at the end of the season, with him set to turn 40 early into next season.
A move back to Brazil looks the most likely to occur right now, although it has been reported that he currently has no idea where he wants to go.
