The Soweto giants' coach insists his dressing room is in a good state and there hasn't been any tension amongst his players.
WHAT HAPPENED?
Kaizer Chiefs coach Cavin Johnson has clarified reports suggesting that his players have not been seeing eye to eye recently due to negative results.
After Johnson's Chiefs 1-0 loss against Richards Bay, reports surfaced that there was a heated moment among Amakhosi's players.
Amakhosi retained the top eight spot after a 2-1 win over struggling SuperSport United on Saturday at the Peter Mokaba Stadium in Polokwane.
Following the match, the interim mentor shed light on the issue, stating that he was misunderstood.
WHAT JOHNSON SAID
"I think before I say anything according to that, I was misquoted. We all read the papers but I think that was a misquote from somebody that said my players are arguing, no they were not arguing," Johnson told the media.
"It's a normal conversation that you have 95% of the game and you can't score the goal. It's normal for players to ask each other to find out, but like it was quoted, we were arguing and I don't think that is the right message to say to my 16 million supporters.
"They were not arguing, they were talking about how we're gonna get better. And yes, we went back to the drawing board to try to fix it, not fix it, but we trained a little bit more on how they must finish," he continued.
"And today Christian Saile scored a goal that he scores every day in training. Other days, in other games he doesn't score the same goal. Mduduzi Shabalala scored a goal today that in training we set up the drills and the one really specifically for technique only, and today he uses it in the goal where you think it’s coming with power but it comes with technique.
"We are happy because at least we got two goals today. Last week and the week before we got zero goals but we still played good football.''
THE BIGGER PICTURE
The win against Matsatsantsa put the Soweto giants in a good state heading to the big fixture this week against Mamelodi Sundowns.
Amakhosi are now in position eight on the PSL table, having accumulated 33 points in 25 games.
WHAT'S NEXT FOR CHIEFS?
Johnson and his charges will be hoping to improve and keep the winning momentum after the win away from home in Limpopo.
Chiefs will welcome the wounded Masandawana at the FNB Stadium on Thursday in a much-anticipated league match.
