Mohamed Salah has broken another Premier League record

Mohamed Salah made Premier League history on Sunday by being the catalyst in Liverpool's crucial 4-2 win at home to Tottenham.

Salah, 31, winger opened the scoring after quarter of an hour before his saved effort was finished off by Andy Robertson on the brink of half-time. Cody Gakpo then made it three prior to Salah earning his second assist, setting up Reds team-mate Harvey Elliott for his cracking strike late on.

Spurs pulled two goals back in the closing stages and could've been awarded a penalty with just a few minutes to go, as Liverpool's Joe Gomez caught Brennan Johnson with a high foot. Jurgen Klopp's side survived the scare, though, and Salah could enjoy becoming a Premier League history-maker once again.

With his contributions in the match, the Liverpool forward became the first player in Premier League history to score at least 10 goals and provide at least 10 assists in three consecutive seasons, according to stats database Opta.

Salah is also only the second player achieve the double feat over five separate seasons in the competition, following on from Manchester United legend Wayne Rooney. The Egyptian has endured a difficult past few weeks, summed up by his row with boss Klopp after being used a substitute in last Saturday's deflating 2-2 draw away to West Ham.

Salah was back to his usual self when Spurs came to town, giving Klopp a reason to smile on his penultimate outing at Anfield. "Mo was absolutely outstanding," the Reds manager told Sky Sports post-match.

"He played a really good game. His side with Harvey was good. I was pleased for him. None of the boys want to play not great, why would they? Mo showed what he is capable of."

Liverpool beat Tottenham 4-2 thanks to Mohamed Salah's contributions

Liverpool now have two final games before Klopp's tenure comes to an end, although their hopes of winning a second league title under the German boss will officially be over if Manchester City pick up all three points at Fulham next Saturday. "Anfield was a special place today," Klopp added.

"We were 4-0 up, I made the changes and we lost organisation. Tottenham showed how good they could be. I was happy with the performance.

"We were good in pretty much all areas offensively. The passes were good. So many things were good. We stayed calm. As long as they don't break the lines then it's fine, let them pass. I liked our game a lot. The goals were outstanding."
