A survey revealed that Liverpool fans want club legend Steven Gerrard and not Zinedine Zidane or Ruben Amorim to replace Jurgen Klopp as coach.
WHAT HAPPENED?
The Reds have been in search of a new manager ever since Klopp made it public that he would quit the club at the end of the current season. They have been linked with several coaches in the past few months, with Sporting CP's Amorim being considered the favourite to replace the outgoing German coach.
THE BIGGER PICTURE
The Reds fans, however, have picked their favourite candidate who could join the club ahead of the 2024-25 season and it is none other than club legend Gerrard. LiveScore Bet recently surveyed 2,036 people to find out who the fans want as their next head coach. The findings revealed that 41% of the fans want to see Gerrard at the helm while Xabi Alonso and Zidane come second and third respectively with 18% and 8% of the vote share. These three coaches are followed by Graham Potter (6%), Ange Postecoglou and Roberto De Zerbi (5% each), Amorim and Julian Nagelsmann (4% each), Hansi Flick (3%) and Luis Enrique (2%).
DID YOU KNOW?
Gerrard was once touted as a future Liverpool manager but his form as a coach in recent years has seen his stock fall dramatically. The former England international is currently in charge of Saudi Pro League side Al-Shabab who are struggling at the ninth position with 35 points from 28 matches.
WHAT NEXT FOR LIVERPOOL?
Klopp's side will be next seen in action on Wednesday as they take on rivals Everton in the Merseyside derby in the Premier League.
