Soon-to-be West Ham United manager Julen Lopetegui wants to sign a striker who will be playing in the Champions League final this season.

Julen Lopetegui is fully expected to replace David Moyes as the new West Ham boss, when the Scot officially leaves his post at the London Stadium on July 1st.

The 57-year-old former Wolves boss has a lot of work to do this summer, and is allegedly planning to make six new signings for the Hammers.

Youssef-En Nesyri and Marcos Acuna are believed to be at the top of his list, but now another name has emerged as a potential target.

One of the main positions where West Ham need to strengthen is the centre-forward department. We desperately need a top-class striker.

And that is apparently exactly the type of player Lopetegui is looking for this summer…

Julen Lopetegui wants 2024 Champions League finalist at West Ham

The Spaniard seems to be determined to get the signing of a top-class striker over the line this summer.

However, the latest name to be linked with the Hammers is an underwhelming one to say the least…

According to a report from Give Me Sport, Lopetegui is keen to bring Joselu to the London Stadium this summer.

The 34-year-old striker bagged two goals for Real Madrid in the Champions League semi-final clash with Bayern Munich to send his side to the final at Wembley.

He joined Madrid in the summer of 2023 and Los Blancos have an option to buy him at the end of the season.

However, if the Spanish giants don’t exercise that option, Julen Lopetegui could sneak in and bring him to West Ham.

I’m just not sure about this one. He failed to make an impact in the Premier League before during spells with Newcastle United and Stoke City.

I really think we should be going for a striker who’s in his prime this summer – someone like Dominic Solanke.
