What West Ham United manager David Moyes did immediately after the 5-0 Chelsea defeat at Stamford Bridge was inexcusable.

So that was interesting yesterday wasn’t it? Chelsea tore West Ham apart and beat us 5-0 – it was probably their easiest game all season long.

David Moyes won’t be West Ham manager for much longer – that’s about the only positive I’m holding onto right now.

The Hammers boss couldn’t resist a sly dig at the West Ham fans after the match, in typical Moyes style.

He has overseen a startling regression at the London Stadium this season, and in 2024 especially.

West Ham have lost 4-1 to Aston Villa, 6-0 to Arsenal, 5-0 to Fulham and Chelsea, 5-1 to Liverpool and 5-2 to Crystal Palace this season.

That’s quite simply not good enough. 70 Premier League goals we’ve conceded – a tally worsened by only the bottom three teams in the league.

When asked why we’ve been so leaky at the back this season, Moyes responded by saying “Declan Rice” – utterly laughable from a manager who is well-renowned for taking zero accountability.

I’ve known for a while that the 61-year-old isn’t the man we need at the helm at the London Stadium.

However, something he did at Stamford Bridge yesterday made me question him as a man, not just a manager…

It’s sad that the Scot’s tenure at the London Stadium is ending this way.

There was no need for it, and only Moyes’s ego stopped him from getting a hero’s send-off back in June.

His exit from West Ham will not be quite as much of a love-in now unfortunately, but he only has himself to blame.

And something he did yesterday proves to me that he doesn’t think too highly of us, the fans, right now either…

After the 5-0 hammering by Chelsea, Moyes didn’t go over and thank the travelling fans for their support, nor did he apologise to them for the utter tripe that was served up at Stamford Bridge.

Oh no, he went straight down the tunnel alongside ‘club captain’ (haha) Kurt Zouma.

What an utter disgrace that is. The fact that Moyes even thought that Zouma would be a good captain in the first place was grounds for the sack if you ask me, but that’s a debate for another time.

I don’t think the Hammers boss even wants to be here himself any more, and it’s such a shame that this is how a fantastic 4.5 year spell is ending.

What David Moyes did immediately after Chelsea defeat was inexcusable, and it is that kind of attitude that is the cause of certain sections of fans’ animosity towards him now.
