Liverpool are looking at potential new signings for the summer and they could trigger the release clause of a Premier League star in doing so.

The Reds are preparing for Arne Slot to arrive and with that, an influx of new players as well.

There are uncertainties over a number of current Liverpool players as well, potentially paving the way for incomings to come right into the first XI.

Mo Salah’s future is always up for debate amid Saudi interest, while Darwin Nunez is said to be a target for Barcelona after an up and down season.

That could leave a gap in the forward line for Liverpool and according to journalist Dean Jones, the Reds could snap up a current Premier League player.

That player is West Ham star, Mohammed Kudus.

Liverpool could make move for Mohammed Kudus

Speaking for GiveMeSport, Jones has admitted that talk of a potential release-clause in Kudus’ contract seems to be true, and Liverpool are likely to be interested.

“It’s very difficult to get a clear gauge on the terms of any release clause that is in the contract as no one involved is really confirming anything. The foundations of the story seem concrete so my hunch is to believe that there is a trigger figure involved somewhere along the line,” Jones said.

“It’ll be interesting to find out what the level of it is and when it kicks in. If it is reasonable then you can imagine he might open up as a potential target for Liverpool, if Salah does end up leaving after all.”

West Ham paid around £38m to sign Kudus just last year and he has had a fine first season overall.

The forward has struck 17 goals across all competitions and shown good durability, playing 46 games for David Moyes.

However, there has always been a feeling his move to the Hammers could be a stepping stone, given the interest in him last year, and if a release clause doe exist, the top six will indeed be sniffing.

Indeed, Kudus’ form has been so good that one of his former coaches has even tipped him to win the Ballon d’Or.
