LINDSEY VONN has confirmed that she is okay after crashing during a training run.

The skiing legend, 40, has come out of retirement after six years away from the sport.

Vonn previously hung up her skis due to a serious knee injury.

But she is now able to compete, having had a titanium knee replacement.

On Thursday she fell towards the end of a World Cup downhill training run on the Olympia delle Tofane course in Italy.

But with her protective airbag having inflated, she thankfully avoided being seriously hurt.

After the incident, Vonn confirmed to The Associated Press: "I’m good.

"I just caught a lot of air off the second-to-last jump and I just landed and my ski kind of caught funny.

“My bum is sore but otherwise I’m good."

The American has indicated that she will still compete at the FIS World Cup event in Cortina this weekend.

On how her knee has held up, she added: "No problem. Titanium doesn’t break."

Last weekend she made her return to action in St. Anton, Austria.

Discussing how she feels she's been progressing during her comeback, Vonn said: "Everything’s getting faster and better, and I’m dialling everything in one day at a time, so hopefully I can get on the podium this weekend."

After her fall yesterday, Vonn took a cautious approach to today's downhill training run.

She placed 40th among 56 finishers on the same course.

Vonn's 1:38.02 time saw her 3.39 seconds off Sofia Goggia's leading finish.
