Arsenal and AFC Bournemouth players paused in the 14th minute to pay tribute to 14-year-old sword attack victim Daniel Anjorin.

Anjorin was horrifically killed on his way to school in Hainault, east London, in broad daylight on Tuesday. Four others sustained injuries during the frenzied attack.

The 14-year-old schoolboy was a fan of the North London club, and to honour his memory, the club's supporters chose to conduct a minute's applause for the youngster. Fans were also spotted holding a banner that read: "RIP Daniel."

In a classy moment, both sets of players as well as the match officials joined the applause in a show of solidarity. In January this year, the Gunners wore an all-white kit at home for the first time in the club's history as part of a campaign against knife crime and youth violence.

The kit was launched in 2022 by Arsenal and Adidas to raise awareness of knife crime, but until this season, it had only been worn away from home. Upon hearing the news of Anjorin's death, the Gunners said in a statement: "We share in the shock and sadness of Daniel Anjorin’s death earlier this week.

"With his family’s blessing, we will make a tribute to Daniel shortly ahead of kick off tomorrow. We ask all supporters to pay their respects to Daniel with us in this moment."

Marcus Arduini Monzo, 36, has been charged with murder as well as two counts of attempted murder, two counts of grievous bodily harm, aggravated burglary and possession of a bladed article. Jaswant Narwal, Chief Crown Prosecutor for CPS London North, earlier said this week: "The Crown Prosecution Service has authorised the Metropolitan Police to charge Marcus Arduini Monzo with the murder of 14-year-old Daniel Anjorin, who was fatally stabbed in Hainault on Tuesday April 30.

"A further four people – including two police officers – were seriously injured. Our thoughts remain firmly with the family of the Daniel and all those who have been impacted by this horrific incident."
