Oliver Glasner will be without four key Crystal Palace players through injury, along with two other doubts, as he prepares his side to take on Newcastle United in Wednesday night’s Premier League meeting.

Crystal Palace are looking to keep up their positive momentum against the Magpies during the Selhurst Park clash.

The Eagles have been in good form after registering a 1-0 win over Liverpool before a 5-2 thrashing of West Ham United

Crystal Palace boss Oliver Glasner will be aiming to implement his playing style further into the squad while ending the season on a high.

Relegation concerns are almost clear, with an 11-point gap built on the bottom three and one game in hand, but safety isn’t secured yet.

Another win would put any creeping doubts away though, with the clash against Newcastle offering a chance to confirm survival.

There are several injury issues for Palace to contend with when it comes to selecting a team though.

So with that said, here’s a look at the latest Crystal Palace injury news and return dates ahead of their clash with Newcastle.

Crystal Palace injury news

An injury crisis has swept over Crystal Palace in recent months, but fortunately for the squad, it appears as though those troubles are coming towards an end.

There are still some long-term issues for Sam Johnstone, Matheus Franca and Cheick Doucoure, with all three set to miss the rest of the season.

Jefferson Lerma and Marc Guehi look set to miss the Newcastle match, but the duo look set to make a return for the final few matches of the campaign.

Adam Wharton is a slight doubt after the West Ham game, following a clash of knees, but looks set to feature against the Magpies.

Adam Wharton injury update

Glasner confirmed that Adam Wharton picked up a slight knock in Crystal Palace’s 5-2 win over West Ham.

The midfielder has impressed since joining the club in January and making the step up from the Championship.

With a clash of knees, there were concerns over the youngster, with the manager telling the media after the match: “It was a coming together of his knees and I haven’t spoken to the medical team but I don’t think it was anything serious.”

Expected return date: Newcastle United (H) – April 24.

Marc Guehi injury return

Crystal Palace star Marc Guehi has been out of action since February, following a knee injury he picked up against Brighton.

It was initially expected to be a problem that would sideline the England international for a few weeks, but that has since turned into months.

There is plenty of hope that Guehi will return in the coming matches, with Glasner stating that he will feature against Manchester United at the latest.

Expected return date: Manchester United (H) – May 6.

Matheus Franca injury blow

Unfortunately for both Crystal Palace and Matheus Franca, the youngster won’t feature again this Premier League season.

The playmaker has been suffering from a recurring groin issue, which has required surgery and will now keep him out of action until pre-season.

It marks a disappointing end to the campaign, with plenty of hopes that Franca would break into the first-team as the next superstar.

Expected return date: Pre-season 2024.

Jefferson Lerma injury latest

Midfielder Jefferson Lerma has been drafted into centre-back in recent games to deal with Crystal Palace’s injury crisis in defence.

The 29-year-old impressed in the clash with Liverpool, slotting into the backline comfortably, but unfortunately picking up an injury in the process.

“It’s his hamstring,” Glasner told the media. “It was a bit unlucky. It was a sprint against [Mohamed] Salah, one of the 30 he had made, and he made a long step and then he felt it.”

Sam Johnstone injury concern

Goalkeeper Sam Johnstone is set to miss the rest of the season through an elbow injury he picked up on international duty.

The Crystal Palace shot-stopper required surgery on the issue, which is now set to keep him out of action until pre-season.

Expected return date: Pre-season 2024.

Cheick Doucoure update

Cheick Doucoure is another player who is going to miss the rest of the season, with a focus on making a return for the next campaign.

The midfielder suffered an Achilles Tendon injury in late December, which requires months to recover from.

Expected return date: Pre-season 2024.

Rob Holding injury latest

Crystal Palace defender Rob Holding has suffered injury troubles throughout the campaign, since joining from Arsenal last summer.

The centre-back recently returned to training after a four-month ankle problem, with hopes of a return to action soon.

However, that plan appears to be on hold because, according to reports from journalist Dom Smith, Holding has picked up a fresh hamstring injury that is set to keep him out of the clash with Newcastle and potentially the game with Fulham.

Expected return date: Manchester United (H) – May 6.
