Darren Bent has now admitted Arsenal would be a lot better off buying one player instead of Newcastle United’s Bruno Guimaraes this summer.

As of yesterday, Brazilian midfielder Bruno Guimaraes was earmarked as one of Arsenal’s key targets for the summer via reports.

Mikel Arteta and Edu Gaspar will be diligently trying to improve their playing staff once again, in a summer that promises change.

Arsenal already have an excellent squad, but there are several players on the periphery of things who are too good not to be playing regular football.

Aaron Ramsdale will surely find himself a new club, where he can be number one once again.

Likewise, Emile Smith Rowe and Eddie Nketiah may want a new challenge, perhaps joining a club where they can be a key figure.

And should those players exit, Arsenal would then be in a strong position to add to their squad.

That being said, when speaking on talkSPORT yesterday, Darren Bent thought Arsenal could make a better signing than Bruno Guimaraes.

Darrent Bent tells Arsenal to sign Alexander Isak instead of Bruno Guimaraes this summer

The pundit was discussing the matter with Andy Goldstein and thought Alexander Isak, who was ‘beautiful to watch’, would be a much better choice.

Goldstein originally said: “Newcastle midfielder Bruno Guimaraes has been linked with a move away from the club, with Arsenal reportedly interested.”

Bent replied: “I would take him. Good player.”

Goldstein: “Would you take him or Isak?”

Bent: “Isak, Isak. We need a centre-forward, need one bad. Beautiful to watch as well.”

Of course, you won’t find many Arsenal fans who will disagree with the merits of signing Alexander Isak.

Bruno Guimaraes would be an outstanding signing for Arsenal’s pivot, allowing Declan Rice to play as an eight, but Darren Bent is right.

If it came down to the two, then Isak would represent a much more transformative signing for Mikel Arteta’s side.

The £100m-rated striker would give Arsenal a new dimension up top, the perfect player to dovetail with Kai Havertz.

I’m not necessarily sure where that would leave Gabriel Jesus, who reportedly has interest from Juventus.

But either way, Arsenal certainly shouldn’t hesitate on that basis.

All that being said, Jose Mourinho did admit that he had one question he wanted to ask Mikel Arteta yesterday.
